Meet Our Team at Estated - Marnie Bolam, Customer Success Manager

In our latest ongoing blog series, we’ll introduce you to the talented members of our happy and healthy team at Estated. Today, we’re excited to introduce Marnie Bolam, our Customer Success Manager!

Tell us a bit about yourself, Marnie.

I was born and raised in Langley, British Columbia—which is located about an hour outside of Vancouver, where I currently live.

I graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Anthropology.

What are 3 fun facts about you?

  1. I'm based in Vancouver, B.C. but I've spent several years living abroad in both Australia and the United Kingdom.
  2. Prior to joining Estated, I spent my entire career working in the pro sports industry with Major League Soccer and the National Hockey League, which was a ton of fun being a big sports fan.
  3. I love all things sci-fi. Books, movies, games, you name it. Whatever it is, anything sci-fi I am into!

As a Customer Success Manager, what do you do at Estated?

My whole purpose here is to make everybody happy. On a day-to-day basis, I am answering any questions or helping to solve any issues that might arise with our clients.

I'm also reaching out and connecting with our clients to learn more about what they're working on, discover how they are using our data, and, more importantly, better understand what I and Estated can do to help make them successful in their endeavours.

What are some skills that you developed early on in your career that have helped you be so successful in your role at Estated?

Prior to joining Estated, I spent most of my career working in professional sports with both the Vancouver Whitecaps and the Vancouver Canucks.

One of my very first jobs was actually interning for the Vancouver Canucks. It was an extremely fast-paced and high-pressure setting where I had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects. It was a very hectic experience, but one that taught me how to appropriately manage my time as well as clearly communicate with my team while managing a multitude of projects simultaneously.

What has been more valuable to your career: education or experience?

Nothing beats practical experience when it comes to building relationships with clients. I’ve had the opportunity to work across many different industries with a variety of people and all of those interactions have helped me learn what questions I need to ask and how to properly listen in order to really understand what a client needs and how I can deliver the best possible solution to them.

What's the best perk about working at Estated?

One of the best parts about working at Estated is the company's commitment to flexible work hours and remote work. I love being able to structure my day in a way that works the best for me. We're really encouraged to prioritize our own well being and mental health. What that means is I can go for a jog in the middle of the day if I need to or simply sign off a little early if I need a mental health break.

What motivates you to get out of bed each day?

I’m a problem-solver at heart. Working at Estated, I know that every day when I get to my desk, I’ll have a new question to answer or a unique project that a client needs assistance with. I love getting to tackle something different everyday and finding new & innovative ways to help our clients reach their goals.

Our motto is happy, healthy humans. How do you do that?

I am very fortunate to live by the beach. I try to spend a little bit of time every day outside by the ocean. It's very relaxing and I think being in nature is always good for one's mental health.
